Wardrobe with space-maximising storage, Walthamstow

We were commissioned to add some clever furniture to a Victorian house in North London, to maximise storage in unusually deep space in the top of the house. The clients wanted a mix of wardrobe space for clothes storage, drawers, shelving and a space for reading away from the general hubbub of a busy household.

The design comprised of deep cupboards with storage shelving to the rear for bedding and other lesser used items, hanging to the front with multiple deep drawers below for clothing. A pull-out bookcase with hidden finger-pull detail was developed to supply essential tall hanging storage. This also provides a space to escape to and read a book. Integrated lighting on PAR sensors was fitted so the wardrobe light comes on when the door is opened. This was a key part of the design, due to the depth of the units.

“When no one else could come up with a viable solution for a large, difficult and seemingly unusable space, Tom designed the perfect answer to solve the problem.

Constructed in the studio and fitted brilliantly into our home with minimal mess or fuss, our wardrobes, drawers and bookshelves are made to last forever.”
