Bespoke media unit, Dulwich

We were commissioned to design and build this bespoke media unit to incorporate cupboards, shelving, space for a TV, a vinyl collection and record player. The clients had a clear idea of an aesthetic to tie in with their colourful mid-century home.

We were able to combine multiple materials to bring the design together a as coherent piece. We designed the supporting frames and used a blackened steel finishing technique to add a lovely patina to the metal. We were able to incorporate English chestnut harvested from the client’s friend’s woodland in Kent, adding a personal story to the furniture.

“We are delighted with the pieces Tom made for us and we have another project in production. He has a really collaborative approach. The final results are beautiful, well made furniture that we are enjoying having in our home.”

Using solid chestnut edging and chestnut laminates to give warm timber tones complementing the blackened steel frame and bold colour scheme.

  • Moisture resistant MDF, local Kentish Chestnut. Vibrant colour laminates and solid steel bar with a specialist blackened steel finish.
